5 Top Pregnancy Beauty Tips
Article by L J McKeever
If you love to stay gorgeous all the time, there is no need to think you have to let things go during pregnancy. Whilst some beauty products and treatments are not advisable during pregnancy (e.g tanning, acne creams containing salycilic acid) there are lots of things you can do to stay on top of your usual beauty routing, turing it in to a pregnancy beauty routine.
1: Drink lots of water
Drinking lots of water will help to keep your skin clear during pregnancy. Whilst a certain amount of pregnancy spots are unavoidable due to that huge influx of hormones, you can help keep it looking good to an extent. Water will also help keep your skin supple by encouraging collagen production, which means you can reduce the amount of stretch marks you will see.
2:Don’t ‘eat for two’
There is a huge myth surrounding just how much you should eat during pregnancy. The phrase ‘eating for two’ is often taken a little bit too literally, leading to women gorging themselves unnecessarily. You only need to add around 300 extra calories to your diet in the third trimester. This may be more for multiples and your health care professional can advise you on just how much to eat in that instance. Eating the correct amount will keep you looking and feeling good and it will avoid any unnecessary weight gain.
3:Use an ‘anti stretch mark’ cream
One of the biggest pregnancy beauty worries for mums to be is whether or not they will have an influx of stretch marks by the time their 9 months is up. Whilst it isn’t always possible to prevent stretch marks atogether, you can lessen the amount you have by trying an anti-stretch mark cream. Go for a classic such as bio oil, or try a pregnancy beauty brand such as Mama Mio.
4:Try pregnancy yoga
The days where women were advised to take complete bed rest during pregnancy are now long gone and many are encouraged to try gentle exercise even if they were pretty sedentary prior to falling pregnant. Pregnancy yoga is a great way to keep yourself supple, relaxed and toned during pregnancy. It is also a great way to prepare yourself for the birth and can be used to recover post-natally.
5: Get plenty of sleep
Sometimes this is easier said than done during pregnancy, but it can do wonders for your pregnancy beauty routine. If you are having trouble sleeping, try some aromatherapy (after consulting a health care professional first), walking or download a sleeping aid mp3.
